Primer is a paint product that allows finishing paint to adhere much better than if it were used alone. For this purpose, primer is specially designed to adhere to surfaces and to form a binding layer that is better prepared to receive the paint.

Acrylic Urethane Catalyzed Coatings

Acrylic-urethane coatings have high performance properties including excellent resistance to salt, steam, grease, oils, many coolants, solvents and general maintenance type machinery fluids. They also have excellent film properties and resistance to scratching, marring and chipping. The tile-like gloss and semi-gloss finishes provide superior corrosion and abrasion resistance, while maintaining excellent gloss and color retention on exterior exposures for long periods of time.

Air Dry Alkyd Enamel Coatings

A one component high grade, alkyd type, enamel intended for use on primed exterior and interior metals substrates. It is highly weather resistant and is characterized by good color and gloss retention, good drying, freedom from after-tack with good flexibility.

Catalyzed Epoxy Coatings

A two-part formulation which is thoroughly mixed just before use. Epoxy finishes are extremely hard and durable and excellent for demanding applications. They can be used for protecting materials such as steel, aluminum and fiber glass. The paint film dries to a brilliant gloss. The tile-like finish is smooth, easy toclean and lasts for years under the most severe conditions.

Water Reducible Acrylic Coatings

Water reducible acrylic coatings are water-borne and cure by evaporating water rather than solvents. They do not emit VOC's into the atmosphere, eliminating the aromatic effects of solvents and making them applicator-friendly when they are applied. They are composed of pigments, resins, additives, and water. They may be mixed with acrylics and vinyls. Latex coatings require a higher level of surface preparation to assure the proper level of adhesion. Humidity can also affect the curing of the coating. They have a low resistance to chemicals, solvents and abrasives. Soap and water is the typical method of cleaning up latex coating material; clean up does not require a solvent.

Two-component acrylic-epoxy coatings provide the resistance to staining, yellowing and scuffing of acrylic resins, combined with the toughness, acid and alkali resistance of epoxies. Their performance characteristics are almost equal to those of polyester-epoxy solvent based products and their stain-resistance is superior.

Zinc Rich Coatings

Zinc-rich coatings and primers have the unique ability to provide galvanic protection to the steel surfaces to which they are applied. These coatings have a large amount of metallic zinc dust combined with the binder. After proper application of a zinc-rich coating to a steel substrate the binder holds the zinc particles in contact with each other and the steel surface. This contact between two dissimilar metals, when in the presence of an electrolyte, will form a galvanic cell. The zinc particles become the anode in the galvanic cell and the steel substrate serves as the cathode. Galvanic action causes the zinc to be preferentially corroded while the steel is protected from attack. Zinc-rich coatings are unique in that they provide protection to the steel surface even at voids, scratches, pinholes and other small defects in the coating system.
